Alex is a leading corporate lawyer with more than 16 years’ experience in corporate law, specialising in private equity and venture capital transactions, with considerable experience in the financial services, fintech, biotech, healthcare and med-tech industries.

Alex is passionate about working with growth stage businesses, advising startups, founders, business owners and investors on private M&A, private investment and a broad range of corporate and general commercial matters. Alex likes to develop a deep understanding of his clients’ risk profiles, commercial drivers, challenges and opportunities.

Alex co-founded Becketts in February 2021. He previously spent over four years at Clarendon Lawyers as a director. Prior to joining Clarendon, Alex was a senior associate in the corporate team at Herbert Smith Freehills (where he spent around 10 years). Alex has been recognised in the Doyle’s Guide since 2018 and Best Lawyers since 2021 as a leading corporate lawyer in Melbourne.

  • the founders of Donesafe on its sale to HSI (US PE backed business);
  • the owners of Hocking Stuart on its sale to Belle Property;
  • Telix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:TLX) on its acquisitions of Advanced Nuclear Medicine Ingredients (ANMI) SA and ATLAB Pharma SA;
  • Applied Spectra on its acquisition of product lines from ASI;
  • MyBeepr on its capital raise and commercialisation arrangements with Avant;
  • the founders of Transform Physio on its sale to Zenitas;
  • Navi Medical Technologies on its recent capital raise;
  • Geneseq on its capital raise and commercialisation arrangements with Australian Clinical Labs;
  • Quantum Radiology on its acquisition of Leichhardt Medical Imaging;
  • the founders of Revita Healthcare on its sale to Healthcare Australia;
  • the founders of Dimple on its sale to Zenitas;
  • Wright Medical Group on its acquisition of its Australian distribution business;
  • Genesys Laboratories on its acquisition of the KickAAS automated agent scripting business;
  • J2 Global Inc on its acquisition of various Australian businesses;
  • Riverside on its investments in IPAR and Work Health Group;
  • Watson Pharmaceuticals (now Actavis Generics) on its acquisition of Ascent Pharmaceuticals;

Alex is dual qualified, having trained and worked as a lawyer in London from 2003-2007 before being admitted to practice in Victoria in 2009.
