Alex Bean

Partner

Alex is a leading corporate lawyer with more than 17 years’ experience. Alex advises clients on private mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and investments, management incentive arrangements, joint ventures, strategic contracts, corporate restructuring and general commercial law. He has specialist experience in the biotech, healthcare and med-tech industries.

Alex develops a deep understanding of his clients’ risk profiles, commercial drivers, challenges and opportunities.

Alex co-founded Becketts as a Partner. He previously spent over four years at Clarendon Lawyers as a director. Prior to that, Alex was a senior associate in the corporate team at Herbert Smith Freehills (where he spent around 10 years) having trained and practised in London before that.

Alex has been recognised in the Doyle’s Guide since 2018 and Best Lawyers since 2021 as a leading corporate lawyer in Melbourne.

Caroline van Grieken

Caroline van Grieken

Partner

Caroline specialises in commercial real estate matters and acts for a broad range of clients and industries.

With over 15 years’ experience, Caroline has extensive expertise advising private, listed and government clients, encompassing real estate matters ranging from retail, industrial and commercial leasing, real estate advice in the context of merger and acquisition transactions to general property advisory work.

Caroline has been involved with the real estate aspects of many mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings.

Caroline has a thorough understanding of her clients’ drivers and combines this with her broad expertise to provide commercially focused advice and results. She understands the importance of balancing commercial imperatives with legal issues. Caroline is responsive and service driven.

Caroline co-founded Becketts as a Partner. She previously spent three years at Clarendon Lawyers as a Director. Prior to that, Caroline spent 11 years in the property team at Clayton Utz.

Mark Farquhar

Mark Farquhar

Partner

Mark has over 16 years’ dispute resolution experience acting for a variety of clients across a broad range of complex commercial disputes.

Mark has conducted litigation in a number of Australian superior courts, including the Supreme Courts of Victoria and New South Wales, and the Federal Court of Australia.

Mark’s broad practice includes general commercial disputes, contractual claims, class actions, consumer law claims and oppression proceedings, as well as arbitrations. Mark also has experience in post-acquisition disputes and regulatory actions.

Whilst highly proficient in conducting technical and large scale litigation, Mark is primarily focused on resolving disputes efficiently, commercially and in a cost effective manner, in order to best service his clients’ needs. Mark recognises that such outcomes will not necessarily involve the commencement of court proceedings, but may instead require a nimble and dynamic approach individually tailored to the specific dispute and the client’s requirements.

Mark co-founded Becketts as a Partner after spending most of his career at several top-tier Australian and global firms, including Allens and Clayton Utz.

Nick is an equity capital markets specialist and regularly acts for issuers, underwriters and investors in public and private market transactions.

Nick has also assisted clients on a wide range of other matters including private mergers and acquisitions, shareholder arrangements, venture capital investments, commercial contracting, debt capital markets, restructures, and general contractual, governance and securities law advice.

Nick is service-oriented and highly responsive and has a keen interest in his clients’ commercial and strategic drivers. He will always go the extra mile to ensure his clients achieve exceptional service and results.

Quentin Reidy
